Pretty Sidebar Categories lists posts from a term in any taxonomy. Use it in a classic sidebar or as a native Elementor widget when Elementor is active.

- Display posts from any term in a selected taxonomy.
- On single posts, optionally limit the list to the current post’s terms.
- Four display templates: list, image left, image right, and full width image. Themes can add more.
- Two widget image sizes, set on the settings screen.
- Use the term name as the title or write your own, and optionally link that title to the term archive.
- Elementor widget with Content, Query, and Display controls, plus Style tabs for the title, items, dates, excerpts, and images.

This plugin includes German, French, Italian, and Spanish translation files.

- Upload
pretty-sidebar-categoriesto the/wp-content/plugins/directory, or install through Plugins > Add New. - Activate the plugin through the Plugins menu in WordPress.
- Add the widget under Appearance > Widgets, or add the Pretty Sidebar Categories widget in Elementor.
- Optional: open Settings > Sidebar Categories to choose post types and widget image sizes.

Where is the Elementor widget?

When Elementor is active, open the Pretty Sidebar Categories category in the Elementor panel and add Pretty Sidebar Categories.
The classic WordPress widget is hidden inside Elementor so you get the native widget and its Style tab. The classic widget is still available under Appearance > Widgets for themes that are not built in Elementor.

What can I set in the Elementor widget?

Content sets the title, title HTML tag, display template, taxonomy, and term. You can show the term description, link the title to the term archive, and on single pages show only other posts that share the current post’s terms.
Query sets how many posts to show (1-20), sort (title, publish date, last modified, menu order, or random), order, and whether to hide the current post.
Display sets the thumbnail size, date, excerpt length, and the more icon. The more text always links to the post. The default icon is a right chevron, and you can pick another icon.

How do I style the list?

Open the Style tab. It includes the widget title, list items, dates, excerpts, and images.
The title HTML tag can be
h1throughh6,div,span, orp. Item and image styles cover typography, colors, hover, spacing, borders, and shadow. More-link colors apply to the excerpt more link. -
Which templates are included?

- List Format is a text list.
- Image Left and Image Right place the featured image beside the title.
- Full Width Image spans the featured image across the widget.
Choose the template in the classic widget or in the Elementor Display template control. To add your own, put a PHP file in
pretty-sidebar-categories/templatesinside your theme. The file name becomes the template name. Do not name itlist.php; that name is reserved. -
What post types does this plugin support?

By default, the plugin searches public post types. Change which types are included on Settings > Sidebar Categories.
